Does an excellent job, better than a lot of electric grinder 2 to 3 times it's price. Very good grinding speed. Takes a while to figure out how to calibrate but once you figured it out is very easy to replicate. Best hand grinder you can get at this price point.
I was chasing a grinder that could grind for espresso as well as for v60s. This definitely delivers. It's sturdy and feels premium. Easy to adjust between settings and so far the stepped adjustments have been fine enough to make incremental changes for espresso. Has been very consistent and I have really enjoyed using it. It's definitely a bit of work when grinding for espressos so as long as you're happy with that, this is the grinder for you! Definitely out performs electric grinders at this price point.
Great grinder - I have used the Hario previously and this is head and shoulders better. Good/fine adjustment of grind. I take about 35 seconds for an 18gm grind for espresso.
I only have the Breville Dose Control pro for comparison, though this does give a smoother, better body drink. Easy to dial in and makes a great espresso, which is why I bought it. Done only a few aeropress', though with great success too.
Haven't yet tried on moka pot or french press, but I'm sure it'll give beaut flavours. It's a bit messy to clean post grinding due to grind retention/static, though am yet to try spraying a little water on the beans pre-grinding to see if this will help. Comes with a brush to clean, and you'll need to do that each time you grind. There's certainly been less channeling and little to no clumping of grinds compared to Breville's Dose Control. I use and like both grinders, the Breville gives a slightly different taste profile, perhaps more bold taste (lacking some on the detail that the JXpro achieves).
While I have nothing to compare it to as it’s my first time using a manual grinder I can say that it’s easy to use, the grinds are consistent sizes and it’s simple to dial in. I’m using it for pour overs and it makes a nice cup. The construction is solid.
