With 9 numbers and 90 clicks on the dial, each click shifting the grind by 22 microns. This allows you to use a fine grind when brewing with an espresso machine and to find the "sweet spot" when dialing in your espresso.
Higher numbers signify a coarser grind. The design allows for a quick adjustment to your preferred grind setting.

Great grinder for espresso

Grinding for three coffees each morning has worked out very well for older person with an aversion to exercise. My upper muscle tone has tightened with little effort. Very pleased with significantly improved quality of the espresso we're getting vs the electric grinder we used before. Grinding process is pretty easy once you get used to twisting the magnetic coffee collector off rather than trying to pull it straight down. Access to parts is straight forward and the straight thru design needs little cleaning, The supplied brush and blower work well although I use a spiky Breville brush to clear the really compressed ground residue around the teeth at the bottom. There is something extremely pleasing about using this machine. It's very efficient with little fuss, well designed, the black finish is attractive. A very nice object Originally it was purchased for travel and as a stop gap between our old $400 electric grinder and something high end around the $1400 mark but now I can't see us ever going back to an electric grinder.
